“Brandy
of Troon” is a modern 36ft quality yacht from the British
Yachtbuilders Moody.
She is fully inspected and certified to MCA (Marine and Coastguard
Agency) standards and offers good accommodation for five guests
plus skipper.
She is maintained to a very high level and well equipped with shower,
good galley, central heating, electronic navigation equipment etc.
Andy Taylor, the owner and host, is a very experienced skipper with
thousands of sea miles, including Atlantic crossings, under his
belt. He enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for sailing with beginners
and helping more experienced guests get the best from their time
aboard.
“Brandy”
is based at Largs Marina on the Firth of Clyde not far from Glasgow
airport. Ina weekend, the islands of Arran, Bute and Cumbrae (and
even the bright lights of central Glasgow) are within easy reach.
In a “normal” weekend, guests will arrive and sleep
on board on Thursday or Friday evening ready to sail the following
morning. On Sunday you will disembark in time to travel home that
evening.
New for 2008 we have introduced three day training weekends which
enable completion of an RYA “Day Skipper” or “Competent
Crew” course in either one week or two long weekends (rather
than three). An RYA “Start Yachting” course can be completed
in just one weekend.
The cost is from £185 for the weekend which includes meals
on board, waterproofs, personal safety equipment, bedding etc. You
bring warm clothing, non-slip shoes/trainers and a sense of fun.
Welcome to the Weekend Breaks
2008 sailing programme
Experience
has shown us that guests, including RYA trainees enjoy tremendously
the local music, cultural and sporting festivals which take place
in the Firth of Clyde. In response our Sailing-Breaks endeavour
to dovetail with these events, subject to a fair breeze of course.
To book simply email or call to reserve your berth. We will hold
your berth for 7 days until a £50 pp deposit is received.
The balance is due 30 days before you sail.
The gaps in our programme are available for bespoke cruises at
a cost of £330 per day (maximum 5 crew) for the whole boat
including all food and drink. Please call to discuss the opportunities...
Cruises and Training Programmes start at 20.00 on the first day
and finish at 16.00 on the last day.
