Sailing in Norway and Scotland

Skippered Yacht Charter, Sailing Holidays, Sailing Tuition and RYA courses along the wild coasts of the Scottish West Coast, Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Norway aboard a quality owner-skippered yacht.

A rare opportunity for high latitude sailing north of the Arctic Circle. Experience the midnight sun in the Lofoten Islands, the Svartisen glacier, the gigantic rock face of Nordland, the deep fiords and rocky islands of the Norwegian Coast – and all from the comfort of your skippered Moody ketch.

To offer more choice to our guests, New Horizon Sailing works with a few carefully selected partners giving New Horizon Sailing guests the opportunity to sail in other areas aboard quality yachts.

C S Scott (click on the image for a larger version - please be patient while the image loads)An established partnership with Steve and Sandra Scott with whom we offer skippered charter for discerning and adventurous guests aboard their 44ft Moody Grenadier Ketch, Magritte (almost as lovely as our Oyster “Stormdancer”).

Their go-anywhere yacht has circumnavigated and provides comfort, quality, strength and safety. She is immaculately presented, carries the latest navigation and safety equipment and is fully inspected and licensed by the UK Department of Transport.

Steve and Sandra have sailed extensively around Britain, Ireland and the Mediterranean. They are both commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmasters. Lawyers by profession, Steve is an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and Sandra, as well as being a trained nurse, is a fantastic cook.

They offer good food, a warm welcome, comfortable bedding, great sailing, RYA or informal tuition (or not) and good company for just four guests in the two twin cabins aboard.

In 2008 we are excited to offer the opportunity to join Magritte as she crosses to Norway and explores northwards to the Lofoten Islands before returning via Bergen to Inverness and then back to the West Coast of Scotland via the Caledonian Canal. Please click here for the 2008 programme.

In 2009, the yacht will be sailing from the Clyde to the Canaries with convenient one-week legs taking in the Irish Sea, South Wales, Cornwall and the Scilly Isles, Brittany, Atlantic France, the Rias of Spain, Portugal and Madeira. Please click here for the 2009 Programme.

“I just wanted to drop you both a short note to say what a stunning 5 days sailing we had last week with you both, the memories loom large, vivid and bright. I wanted to pass on my thanks for making it such a delightful experience. You did a great job.”
Tim, Aberdeen

“We had a great week and really enjoyed ourselves. The sailing and the instruction was great, as was your hospitality, food, company and everything else. We had a really good laugh as well which is just as important.”
Philip and Jane, Cheltenham
