  Welcome to New Horizon Sailing in Scotland, Norway and the Faeroe Islands

An adventurous sailing holiday on the West Coast of Scotland. Sailing amongst the islands of the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland in comfort aboard a skippered Oyster yacht. Charter a berth or the whole boat.

Towards Scarba (click on the image for a larger version - please be patient while the image loads) The Scottish West Coast and the islands of the Hebrides are as spectacular as the wildlife that inhabits them. There is no better way to visit than from the sea.

Join us for exhilarating Scottish sailing as we explore aboard our “flagship” Stormdancer - a yacht that combines comfort with proven sailing ability.

Discover deep sea lochs, dramatic mountains, puffins, dolphins, whales or eagles and, at the end of the day, good food and like-minded company in one of the many secluded anchorages.

Anchored at Treshnish (click on the image for a larger version - please be patient while the image loads)Richard is your skipper and host, He is equally happy to handle the boat or leave you to sail while he keeps the mugs of tea and coffee topped up, prepares the meals or uncorks the wine.

He is a qualified RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and those who want to learn more will find him a calm and patient coach.

Experienced sailors will enjoy improving their navigation and boat handling skills in an area with interesting tides and snug anchorages.
Beginners will soon find themselves spending time at the wheel, trimming the sails or launching the dinghy.

Wind, Tide, Weather and the mood of the group dictate that no two cruises will be the same.

The Summer Isles (click on the image for a larger version - please be patient while the image loads)Favourite memories include;
reefed-down sailing in magnificent winds, barrelling along with the tide in narrow channels, dry-mouthed moments creeping into tight anchorages or rather wetter ones landing on rocky shores in the tender.

And;
a stroll on an empty beach before dinner, ceilidhs on the Classic Malts Cruise, laughing at the antics of puffins around their burrows, the excitement of sighting the first dolphins or dining on fish caught that afternoon.

Whatever your age or experience, whether looking for a relaxing sailing holiday in Scotland cruising between islands, an approved RYA sailing course, a concentrated week of mile building in the Outer Hebrides, a weekend taster or more adventurous sailing to St. Kilda, Orkney, Fair Isle, Shetland, Faeroes and Norway, or south to France, Spain and the Canaries, you will find something to suit you.

Whatever your age or experience, whether looking for a relaxing sailing holiday in Scotland cruising between islands, an approved RYA sailing course, a concentrated week of mile building in the Outer Hebrides, a weekend taster or more adventurous sailing to St. Kilda, Orkney, Fair Isle, Shetland, the Faeroes and Norway, you will find something on the programme page to suit you.

New Horizon Sailing is also built on partnerships to offer skippered charter aboard quality yachts with experienced skippers/hosts:

  • Magritte”, is heading for Norway and we will be offering skippered charter and RYA Training opportunities ranging from the Scottish West Coast, the Outer Hebrides, Orkney, the Shetlands and across to Bergen and north to the Lofoten Islands.
  • We continue to offer our popular weekend sailing breaks in the more sheltered waters of the Firth of Clyde - ideal for beginners - aboard a smaller but still high quality Moody 36 “Brandy of Troon”.

    For the 2008 programme aboard Brandy of Troon please click here.

  • RYA training from qualified and experienced instructors is available aboard all three yachts but always with an emphasis on a sailing holiday with high standards of both comfort and professionalism.

New for 2008 we will be joined by another impressive yachts and skipper consistent with the New Horizon Sailing ethos of top yachts in fantastic locations with committed and experienced hosts.

We now offer sail/climb and sail/ski holidays on the Norwegian west coast on a brand new Ovni 435 (Jon, the owner/skipper, labels the concept “sailing with mountain boots”). The 44ft Ovni is built in Aluminium with a lifting keel and is favoured by high latitude sailors worried about floating ice. The 2009 programme will be published in the Autumn, but there will be places aboard this year so please call if interested.

So, in keeping with the New Horizon sailing concept of choice – of top yacht, great location, guaranteed warm welcome and quality of experience, we have now expanded our programme to offer:

Sailing Holidays, Weekend Breaks, Milebuilding and RYA Training in Scotland including the West Coast, Mull, Skye, the Hebrides, Clyde, St Kilda, Orkney, Shetland and further north to the Faeroe Islands.

Sailing Holidays in Norway including the dramatic fjords, RYA Training, Sailing combined with climbing and skiing, and cruising north of the Arctic Circle to the Lofoten Islands.

Sailing Holidays, Milebuilding and RYA courses in Cornwall, Brittany, the French Coast, Spain, Portugal and the Canaries.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
